Usually made from medium-density polyethylene, these tanks are durable, frostproof and maintenance-free, sold in lots of different shapes and sizes, sometimes colours.

Only disadvantage compared to the underground tanks is their visibility but compensated by their low cost installation.

Inlets and outlets are made by cutting the plastic wall to the right places.

Tanks are maintenance-free. The tank can crack if its base has been sunk unevenly but this is a very rare situation..
