Valve box

A valve box is a container used to house irrigation valves and other components of an irrigation system, such as solenoids and wiring connections. Valve boxes are typically made of durable materials such as plastic or concrete and are designed to be buried underground.

Valve boxes come in a variety of sizes and shapes to accommodate different types and sizes of valves and components. They may be round or rectangular in shape and may have multiple chambers to house multiple valves.

The purpose of a valve box is to protect irrigation components from damage caused by exposure to the elements, such as dirt, debris, and moisture. The box also provides easy access to the valves and other components for maintenance and repairs. Without a valve box, irrigation valves and components would be exposed and vulnerable to damage and may be difficult to locate for maintenance or repair.

Valve boxes are typically installed at the same time as the irrigation system and are located near the zone valves they control. Proper installation and maintenance of valve boxes is important to ensure that the irrigation system operates efficiently and effectively.

Operation and test

Valve boxes are cabinets hence the only test can be done is to opening and closing their lids.

Maintenance

Valve boxes should be inspected regularly for damage, and any necessary repairs or replacements should be made inside promptly. Hence their accessibility (for example by cutting the vegetation around them regularly) is very important.
